Chest/Upper Back Pain

Chest pain or upper back pain often involves the ribs and sternum, which form a dynamic structure that expands and contracts as you breathe. This requires the flexible parts of your chest (which is made of cartilage) to remain in good shape.

Treatment

Sometimes, these parts get inflamed and make it painful to breathe. An injection to calm down and soothe the inflamed cartilage is an option we can provide if oral medications do not help. Another cause of rib pain is damage to the hard structures in your chest. We can help this by diagnostically injecting the nerves that go to the ribs and if that helps, semi-permanently turning down these nerves.
